G-BSYY engine problem

Whilst it is right and proper that we post all the good stuff on this blog, it is also important we post about things that aren't going so well..

Unfortunately last Friday whilst descending towards Lasham near Basingstoke our Warrior G-BSYY began to experience a loss of power and engine rough running. The aeroplane landed safely at Lasham, however the engine appears to have suffered serious internal damage. Nobody's fault and one of the downsides of aeroplane ownership. Engines do sometimes go wrong.

We need to overhaul the engine and then reinstall in the aeroplane, and this is likely to cost the thick end of £15,000. After an extremely busy summer, and all the associated fuel and maintenance bills this unexpected expense is going to push the charity's finances hard. For the next few weeks at least YY will be grounded.
