Marquee dismantling!

Thank you to all of the volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to take the marquee down. It was done in record time!!

The marquee has been used a great deal this Summer- for our AEP sessions, Aviation Experience days, volunteer training and the occasional BBQ! It has been a fantastic Summer!

The hangar is nearly ready- looking forward to these activities taking place in there throughout the Winter maybe- heated of course!! Maybe we won't try a BBQ though?

The second Aviation Education Programme session took place Saturday.  The boys had great fun learning about Air Traffic Control and enjoyed talking to each other on walkie talkie radios using the phonetic alphabet and call signs. The session got quite technical with explanations of QNH and the use of altimeters. It was great seeing the boys working together and making new friends.

Aviation Education Programme 2014

The new Aviation Education Programme got off to a flying start with our new students learning about Airfield Operations.

Our new students all joined in setting up a small airfield with the help of some props.  They also learnt about compass points, wind direction and discussed what is essential for a small airfield.

It’s going to be a fun course with very knowledgeable young students.
