AEP Engineering

Saturday 21st November saw the AEP look at engineering.  The boys looked at the different types of engineering and discussed how both a combustion engine and a jet engine works.  They looked at real engine parts and then took part in a matching activity where they had put the correct parts to the description.  All the boys seemed to know their way around an engine and I'm sure there are a few engineers of the future amongst them!

Touring Group 2016

Dear Flyers,

We are starting our planning for the Touring Group 2016 events. The Touring Group plans a number of short (day trip) and longer (multi day) trips in our Aerobility aircraft. This is to give a variety of flights, extend your flying skills and varying durations to suit different budgets.

In 2015 we did a number of trips, including a day trip visit to Breighton where we stopped at Sywell and met the Blades team and on a longer trip we visited Cambletown in Scotland where on the way we stopped over in Douglas on the Isle of Mann and Newtownards in Northern Ireland.

If you would be interested in being part of a Touring Group trip then please register your interest by emailing info@aerobility.com with any suggestions that you may have - have you ever fancied flying to some area of the UK or Europe? As an example we already have plans for a “D-Day” trip in June 2016 covering the North French coast between Calais and Cherbourg.

I hope you can come and have some exiting ideas,

Kind regards

Mike Owen

AEP Fire and Rescue

On 7th November the subject of the Aviation Education Programme was Fire and Rescue.  The group looked at different types of emergencies - the more dramatic the better!! They also discussed emergency plans and looked at the fire triangle.  They played a very competitive game of fire triangle bingo - Andre and Fraser were the first to be able to make a fire with Georgie and Matt last.  We declared Matt fireman for the day as he took the longest to be able to cause a blaze!! The boys ended the session discussing the different types of fire and which extinguisher to use.
